Emergency Patch Fixes Windows Shortcut Vulnerability

Microsoft has issued an emergency patch to fix a vulnerability in the way Windows parses shortcuts. The shortcuts patch applies to all current versions of Windows, but not Windows XP SP2 and Windows 2000, which have reached end of life. Microsoft rated the patch critical and said the vulnerability is being actively exploited by hackers.
