The Cisco USC 5310 is field-upgradeable and contains a dedicated third-generation (3G) small cell base station that can efficiently deliver mobile services indoors while offloading traffic from the outdoor macro network. This approach not only improves the mobile user experience, but it also reduces costs by eliminating the need for dedicated macro base station sites, reducing the need to acquire small cell real estate and decreasing the backhaul infrastructure required to support small cell deployments.
