Entry-level disk solutions
The economical IBM® System Storage™ DS3000 Series delivers advanced functionality, providing an exceptional solution for workgroup storage applications such as e-mail, file, print and Web servers, collaborative databases and remote boot for diskless servers. It now offers RAID 6 and 450GB SAS drives, employing advanced high performance, hardware-enabled RAID 6 technology designed to protect against multiple disk drive failure. SAS and SATA drives may be intermixed.
Capacity, availability and functionality
The IBM® System Storage™ DS3200 Express model is an easy, scalable and flexible external storage enclosure that addresses increasing demand for capacity, data availability and functionality.
When new servers are purchased, typically they will house several drives; however, as an organization grows, this distributed storage strategy leads to wasted data space, duplicated functions, inefficiencies in data protection and availability inconsistencies. The DS3200 takes storage outside the server.

Tape storage
Data is a key corporate asset. The challenge of finding a way to safely store massive quantities of generated data is increasing; more data must be backed up and stored quickly. When recording your data to a storage medium, you want reliability. The linear tape format is time-tested; its mechanical design and simplicity mean tape drives use few moving parts, providing durability and low maintenance costs.
Benefits of LTO® tape
IBM® LTO® Ultrium™ tape drives share advanced technologies: advanced multi-track recording capabilities, state-of-the-art magneto-resistive (MR) flat lap heads and a surface control guiding system are designed to work together to support extremely high recording densities.
The flat lap head is designed to help improve contact between the read/write recording elements and the tape, supporting high-quality recording and read-back of your data. The unique tape head helps decrease tape breakage and decrease degradation of critical data over time.
The surface control guiding system helps improve the longevity of the tape while minimizing the chance of physical damage to the tape media.
Error-correction code (ECC) helps support data integrity and a Statistical Analysis and Reporting System supports preventative and diagnostic reporting, helps determine drive and media status and helps improves drive and system availability.
Easy deployment & flexibility
The IBM® TotalStorage™ TS2000 and TS3000 families of entry-level tape autoloaders use technologies to keep your data backed up and recoverable in a timely fashion, featuring IBM LTO tape solutions.
Designed for high capacity and data transfer rates, the LTO Ultrium format supports a technologically solid migration path that allows for great expandability.
Backup and archival storage
The IBM System Storage™ TS2900 Tape Autoloader, a single-drive, low profile automated tape solution for small- to mid-market tape environments, leverages the technology of IBM high-high LTO tape drives to offer a high-capacity tape storage solution suited for handling backup and archival data storage for the Windows®, Linux® and other open system environments.
More capacity in less space
The IBM TS3100 and TS3200 Tape Library Express models now support the new IBM LTO Ultrium 4 Half High (HH) Tape Drive and the IBM LTO Ultrium 3 HH Tape Drive for cost-effective backup, save and restore, and archival storage in sequential or random access mode with a standard barcode reader. More data and faster transfer rates than HH LTO 3 - and tape drive encryption with HH LTO 4 - creates a function-rich tape storage solution incorporating the express models.
The IBM® System Storage™ TS3100 Tape Library Express model and its storage management applications address capacity, performance, data protection, reliability, availability, affordability and application requirements. It incorporates a single LTO Ultrium 4 HH or LTO Ultrium 3 HH Tape Drive.
The IBM® System Storage™ TS3200 Tape Library Express, an external 4U standalone or rack-mountable unit, incorporates up to two LTO IBM TotalStorage Ultrium 4 HH or 3 HH Tape Drives. It offers high capacity and performance technology for midrange open systems environments.
