Key Features
Windows To Go rights
Windows To Go is a fully manageable corporate Windows 8 desktop on a bootable external USB drive. It allows your employees to use a corporate image on a non-corporate PC.
Windows To Go requires volume licensing activation; either using the Key Management Service (KMS) server in your organization or using Active Directory based volume activation.
Windows RT Companion Virtual Desktop Access (VDA) Rights
Virtual Desktop Access (VDA) rights provide Windows RT machines access to virtual instances of Windows running in the data center by the primary user.
Windows VDA Rights are available with Software Assurance for Windows or through the separate Windows VDA subscription license (for devices not covered by or eligible for Software Assurance, such as thin PCs.)
Windows Companion Subscription License (CSL)
Windows CSL is an optional subscription add-on that allows the primary user to access a corporate desktop at work through either Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) or Windows To Go on up to four personally-owned devices.
When attached to a work device licensed with Software Assurance for Windows VDA, the Windows CSL grants the primary user of that device rights to access a corporate desktop through either VDI or Windows To Go on up to four additional devices.
Roaming Use Rights
Roaming Use Rights allow the "primary user of any licensed device" to access Windows 8 running in the datacenter (VDI) or Windows To Go while off company premises.
The Windows CSL provides a single license valid for up to four devices instead of requiring individual licenses for each companion device.
Enterprise Sideloading of Windows 8 apps
Virtual Desktop Access (VDA) rights provide Windows RT machines access to virtual instances of Windows running in the data center by the primary user.
- Enterprise Sideloading for domain-joined PCs allows easily manage the deployment of trusted Windows 8 apps through policy settings.
- Enterprise devices that are not domain-joined can be enabled using Volume Licensing Multiple Activation Key (MAK) in addition to policy settings.
